Overview

For a business that sells across more than one Southeast Asian market, Xendit covers the local methods in each of its core markets under licences held by its own group companies — virtual accounts, QRIS, GCash, FPX, PromptPay, over-the-counter retail payments and cards — on one integration and one published rate card. That breadth is the reason to choose it. Price it carefully, though: from 1 October 2026 every transaction attempt, including failed attempts and refunds, carries a fixed processing fee on top of the method fee, and accounts invoicing under US$50 a month are charged up to that minimum. For a large-ticket or high-volume merchant the change is marginal; for a small merchant taking low-value payments it can double the effective cost or more. Card funds take five business days to settle, and Xendit, not an acquiring bank, decides whether to hold or reserve them.

Best for: Online businesses, marketplaces, subscription and digital-goods sellers operating in two or more of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam that want local payment methods, payouts and platform splitting through a single API, and whose ticket sizes are large enough that a fixed per-transaction fee is a small share of each sale.

Strengths

  • + Publishes one regional rate card listing every method's fee in every market — cards, virtual accounts, QR, e-wallets, retail counters, pay-later and payouts — rather than asking merchants to request a quote.
  • + Genuine multi-country coverage under licences held by its own group companies, including a Bank Indonesia payment gateway licence, a Bank Negara Malaysia merchant-acquiring licence through Payex and Bank of Thailand payment and e-money licences, listed on its licences page (updated 28 August 2026).
  • + Covers the non-card methods that dominate these markets — Indonesian virtual accounts and QRIS at 0.7%, GCash and Maya, FPX, PromptPay, and cash payments at retail counters — so a merchant does not have to integrate each one separately.
  • + Platform tooling is built in: xenPlatform sub-accounts and split settlement, batch payouts, subscriptions and same-day Early Settlement are all on the same API and dashboard.
  • + No fixed contract term; either side can end the agreement on 30 days' notice.

Trade-offs

  • – From 1 October 2026 a fixed processing fee applies to every transaction attempt, including failed payments and refunds: an IDR 50,000 QRIS payment then costs IDR 4,350 (8.7%) against IDR 350 under the 0.7% method fee alone, before any VAT on the processing fee.
  • – The same pricing change adds a US$50 monthly minimum for low-volume and dormant accounts, a US$250 monthly fee for merchants still on the legacy API, US$25 card and US$15 local-method chargeback fees, and keeps both fees on refunded transactions.
  • – Card settlement is five business days in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and Xendit does not publish the price of faster access through Early Settlement.
  • – The public complaint record, though small, is uniformly negative: Xendit's unclaimed Trustpilot profile scores 1.9 on 12 reviews, all one-star, as of September 2026, citing slow or opaque account activation, rejections after integration work, and unresponsive support.
  • – Xendit can reserve funds — its agreement puts a rolling reserve's hold at "typically between 30 and 180 days" — delay or withhold settlement on risk grounds, and take up to 180 days to pay out a closed account's balance.
