Overview

$42

Best for: Vending, amusement, laundry, car-wash and air/vacuum operators with low average tickets who want a card reader, cellular telemetry and sales reporting from one supplier. It also suits growing route operators who will use the Seed Cashless+ or Seed Pro management software, and micro-market operators who want a kiosk with no upfront cost through Cantaloupe One.

Strengths

  • + The standard card-reader price is public: $9.95 or $12.95 a month plus 5.95% per sale, with hardware prices listed in the online store. Nayax, the other unattended provider we review, quotes its unattended pricing.
  • + The store lists a single percentage with no fixed per-transaction fee shown, which suits micro-tickets. At Cantaloupe's reported average of about $2.89 a transaction, 5.95% is about 17 cents.
  • + One supplier covers the whole stack: reader, cellular telemetry, payment processing and route-management software, with a free sales portal on every device.
  • + Cantaloupe One removes the upfront hardware cost and includes replacement for failed or end-of-life devices for the length of the subscription.
  • + Weekly payouts on a fixed day, landing the next business day, with a low $25 minimum.

Trade-offs

  • – 5.95% is expensive once tickets grow: $1.19 on a $20 micro-market basket. It is a price built for snacks and arcade plays, not for larger unattended sales.
  • – Commitment periods with early-termination fees (12 months on purchased readers, 36 months on Cantaloupe One), fee increases allowed on 30 days' notice after the first year, and exit rules spread across the MSA, its schedules and each order form.
  • – Cantaloupe's own documents disagree on basic terms. The store FAQ promises a three-year standard warranty while the MSA's warranty schedule says 12 months. The store return policy allows 30 days from receipt while the MSA and Cantaloupe One FAQ allow 90 days from shipment (both with a 20% restocking fee).
  • – A D- BBB rating, driven by failure to respond to 32 complaints. Complaints and reviews describe activation delays, deposits not paid, device transfers stalled for weeks, and service fees billed on devices the operator says were cancelled.
  • – Corporate history includes a 2023 SEC settlement for booking improper revenue in fiscal 2017–2018 under earlier management. Since May 2026 the company has been owned by 365 Retail Markets, which says the business will operate under the 365 name, so the brand and terms may change.

Fees in detail

  • Disputes: No fixed chargeback fee is published. Under the Master Services Agreement (v2025, s.6.3.3) Cantaloupe keeps the disputed amount plus any car
