Overview

Mollie does the thing this industry almost never does: it publishes the whole price list, per payment method, and lets you cost your business before you sign anything. Add a Dutch central bank e-money authorisation, 250,000 merchants, no lock-in on the online product and by far the best Trustpilot standing of any European PSP at its scale, and it is an easy provider to recommend — inside its footprint. Outside Europe and the UK it simply is not an option, and the complaints that do exist are the serious kind: accounts suspended and balances held.

Best for: European and UK businesses, especially in the Netherlands and Benelux, that want one contract covering iDEAL, Bancontact, cards, Klarna and SEPA, with published pricing and no commitment.

Strengths

  • + Publishes its full price list per payment method, so you can calculate your true cost before applying — genuinely rare at this scale.
  • + Authorised by De Nederlandsche Bank as an electronic money institution (relation number F0038), with e-money issuing, acquiring, payment initiation and account information services all on the register since 16 January 2025, passportable across the EEA.
  • + No lock-in, no minimum and no monthly fee on the online product — you pay only for successful transactions and can cancel at any time.
  • + Around thirty European payment methods under one contract and one API, including iDEAL, Wero, Bancontact, Klarna, BLIK, TWINT, Przelewy24, Vipps and MobilePay — the local-method coverage is the real product.
  • + 4.4 on Trustpilot across 12,690 reviews, with the company replying to 98% of negative reviews usually within 24 hours. Stripe and Adyen sit at 1.6 and 1.3 on the same platform.
  • + Volume pricing moves to IC++ above €100,000 a month, so a growing merchant can get to interchange-plus without changing provider.

Trade-offs

  • – Europe and the UK only. Mollie is not a route to US acquiring, and its pricing, licensing and payment methods are all built around the EEA.
  • – No card chargeback fee is published anywhere. The only dispute pricing Mollie publishes is for Klarna: €25 per lost dispute, plus up to €30 more if your dispute rate goes above 1.5%.
  • – The GoCardless integration is unfinished. Mollie said in December 2025 that products would be merged in a phased way; its June 2026 announcement refers to closing the deal, but we could not confirm a completion date. Two payment platforms merging is a period of migration work and support strain, and you would be signing up during it.
  • – Suspended accounts and withheld balances are the consistent theme of the negative reviews. Mollie is an e-money institution, not a bank, and account reviews can stop your payouts while they run.
  • – Below €500,000 of annual volume only five payouts a month are free; after that each one costs €0.25, so a daily payout schedule quietly costs a small merchant money.
  • – Cross-currency payouts cost 1% of the payout amount, which is a meaningful drag for a merchant selling outside its home currency.
