Overview

PayJunction is one of the few merchant services companies whose reputation genuinely holds up under checking: 26 years in business, an A+ BBB rating held since 2011 with zero complaints on file, 4.9 on Trustpilot from an unsolicited sample, and a month-to-month agreement with no cancellation fee. The weakness is that you cannot cost it before you apply. Every published number is an 'as low as', and independent accounts of its monthly fee contradict each other. It is a company worth getting a quote from, and a quote is the only way to know what it costs.

Best for: Small and mid-sized card-present businesses — dental, veterinary, auto service, professional practices — that want a virtual terminal, deep software integration and a support line that answers, and who value not being locked in over shaving basis points.

Strengths

  • + Month-to-month service with no long-term contract and no cancellation fee — you return the terminals and stop, which is close to unique among traditional ISOs.
  • + Zero complaints on file with the BBB, alongside an A+ rating and accreditation held continuously since August 2011.
  • + 4.9 on Trustpilot across 615 reviews with 98% at five stars, on a profile Trustpilot flags as having no recent history of solicited reviews.
  • + In business since August 2000 and still independently run from Santa Barbara — 26 years without being absorbed into a larger acquirer, which is unusual at this size.
  • + A registered ISO of PNC Bank, N.A. and a Level 1 PCI compliant provider, so the sponsorship and compliance posture are both disclosed.
  • + Publishes a real ACH rate ('as low as 0.75%') and a genuine surcharge option, with the exclusions — debit, ACH, refunds, some sales taxes — stated rather than buried.

Trade-offs

  • – Every published card rate is an 'as low as' floor. 1.49% + $0.15 is what the best-qualified merchant might see, not what you will be quoted.
  • – No monthly fee is published, and independent reviewers directly contradict each other — some report $35 a month below $10,000 of monthly volume, others report no monthly, annual or PCI fee at all. We could not resolve it from PayJunction's own material.
  • – The company does not publish its funding or payout timing anywhere, so settlement speed has to come out of the quote.
  • – Reviewers describe PayJunction as unwilling to move much on price for smaller merchants; the concessions reportedly come at higher volume.
  • – The product centre of gravity is card-present and virtual terminal. An ecommerce-first business will find deeper tooling elsewhere.
  • – PayJunction's public About page did not resolve when we checked, so company facts — founding date, address — had to be taken from its BBB profile and its Trustpilot listing rather than from its own site.

Fees in detail

  • Online rate: The same Standard-plan card rate applies to PayJunction's virtual terminal and hosted payments; PayJunction does not publish a separate card
  • Contract: Month-to-month. PayJunction states it has no long-term contracts and describes earning the business back every month.

Standard published rate for a domestic online card payment. Confirm current pricing on PayJunction's pricing page.
