Overview

Kurv is Electronic Merchant Systems with new owners, new management, a new platform and a new name since November 2025. The investment is real and some of it is genuinely to merchants' benefit — published sample rates, next-business-day funding at no premium, a modern app, and support that reviewers praise by name. But the rebrand did not reset the underlying record: 96 BBB complaints in three years with 31 in the last twelve, a third of Trustpilot reviewers at one star complaining about withheld funds, a 24-month auto-renewing contract behind the no-lock-in language, and no acquiring bank named anywhere. Worth a quote; not worth signing unread.

Best for: Small and mid-sized US businesses that want a single provider for terminals, Tap to Pay, invoicing and online payments, value next-day funding and a 24/7 US support line, and are willing to read a merchant agreement carefully and negotiate the terms in it.

Strengths

  • + Publishes real sample rates — 2.50% + $0.10 swiped and 2.90% + $0.25 keyed or online — rather than making every merchant request a quote.
  • + Next-business-day funding as standard, not as a paid upgrade.
  • + Thirty-eight years of continuous trading, an A+ BBB rating and BBB accreditation held since September 2017.
  • + Genuine recent investment: a majority stake taken by BharCap Partners in August 2024, a rebuilt platform, a new merchant app with Tap to Pay on Android, and a leadership team recruited across revenue, risk, compliance, legal and technology.
  • + 24/7/365 US-based support is the single most praised thing in its reviews, usually with the representative named.
  • + The pricing page discloses its own catches in footnotes — the $395 equipment non-return fee, the conditional monthly minimum and the conditional PCI fee are all stated rather than left to the agreement.

Trade-offs

  • – The contract is 24 months and automatically renews. Kurv's own FAQ says so plainly, which makes the surrounding no-lock-in marketing, and the third-party reviews repeating it, misleading.
  • – "$0 early termination fee" is doing a lot of work. Rented equipment you fail to return costs $395, and 2026 BBB complainants describe being quoted a termination fee when they tried to cancel.
  • – 96 complaints filed with the BBB in the last three years, 31 of them in the last twelve months. Seven of the ten most recent are billing issues, and they are dated after the rebrand — this is a current pattern, not a legacy one.
  • – Withheld funds is the recurring theme of the negative reviews, including merchants describing four-figure and five-figure balances held for months. That is the failure mode to price in.
  • – No acquiring or sponsor bank is named anywhere on the site — we checked the homepage, pricing, about, contact, terms and privacy pages. Most registered ISOs disclose theirs, and given that the most serious complaints against Kurv concern withheld funds, you should know whose bank holds your settlement.
  • – The merchant agreement is not published. The only terms document on the site is the website terms of use, which tells you nothing about reserves, notice periods or termination.

Fees in detail

  • Online rate: 2.90% + $0.25 online, quoted at the same rate as keyed.
  • Disputes: $$25.00 per dispute and a further $25.00 per representment, so contesting a chargeback and losing costs $50.
  • Contract: 24 months, automatically renewing. Kurv's own pricing FAQ answers the question "Is there a contract?" with: "Yes, you will be expected to sign an automatically renewable 24-month merchant contract." Several third-party reviews describe Kurv as having no subscription lock-in; that is contradicted by Kurv's own FAQ.

Standard published rate for a domestic online card payment. Confirm current pricing on Kurv (formerly Electronic Merchant Systems)'s pricing page.
