Overview

TouchBistro is a capable restaurant POS with fifteen years behind it, published entry pricing and a feature set — kitchen display, reservations, online ordering, loyalty — that genuinely covers a restaurant's needs from one vendor. It is also a company whose Better Business Bureau file shows an F rating and dozens of complaints it did not answer, whose Trustpilot page is dominated by operators describing auto-renewals they say they never agreed to, and which was sold to Constellation Software's Harris division in July 2026 for a reported fraction of what investors put into it. The product is better than the paperwork. Go in knowing that the contract, not the software, is what you will end up arguing about.

Best for: Independent full-service and quick-service restaurants, bars and cafés that want an all-in-one restaurant platform from a single vendor, are comfortable on iPad hardware, and will actually diarise their renewal notice date.

Strengths

  • + Published entry pricing — $69 per month for POS and $119 for the hardware-and-payments bundle — which is more than most restaurant POS vendors will put on a page.
  • + Deep, restaurant-specific feature set built over fifteen years rather than adapted from a general retail product.
  • + Genuine all-in-one coverage: kitchen display, inventory, labour, online ordering, reservations, loyalty and gift cards from one vendor.
  • + No commission charged on orders placed through TouchBistro's own online ordering, which is a real saving against marketplace ordering platforms.
  • + 24/7 support and software updates are included in the subscription rather than sold as a tier.
  • + Substantial installed base — the company reports more than 16,000 restaurants across 100-plus countries — so integrations and third-party familiarity are good.

Trade-offs

  • – An F rating with the Better Business Bureau, not accredited, with 48 complaints over three years of which 41 went unanswered. Ignoring four out of five complaints is itself the finding.
  • – Contracts renew automatically. The most common complaint, by a wide margin, is being told the agreement had auto-renewed after an attempt to cancel.
  • – Merchants repeatedly describe being billed for months after requesting cancellation, with requests acknowledged and then not processed.
  • – Trustpilot shows a 1.5 score across 348 reviews, with a third of all reviews at one star and recent sentiment clearly negative.
  • – No published processing rate for TouchBistro Payments, and no published add-on module pricing — only the two entry-level software figures are transparent.
  • – Funding takes 1 to 4 business days unless you bank with Chase, which is slow for a restaurant managing weekly cash flow.

Fees in detail

  • Contract: Not published on the pricing page. Independent reviewers and merchant complaints consistently describe an annual term that renews automatically unless notice is given, commonly cited as 30 days before renewal.

Standard published rate for a domestic online card payment. Confirm current pricing on TouchBistro's pricing page.
