Overview

Boulevard is strong software for salons, spas and medspas, and its built-in payments are a reasonable part of it. Checkout, deposits, memberships, buy now pay later, chargeback handling and payouts split between staff all sit in the same system as the booking calendar. The weak point is that you take its processing as part of the package. It publishes only a starting rate of 2.65%, and the exact rate is quoted in your order. There is no outside processor to compare against inside the product, and the 12-month auto-renewing term means you are committed before you know how it performs for you. We hold it at B. The software and user ratings are good, but rate disclosure is thin, the chargeback fee is not published, and the contract terms favour Boulevard.

Best for: Established US salons, spas, barbershops and medspas, especially multi-location businesses or salons with booth renters, that want booking, POS, memberships and payments in one system and are prepared to sign up for a year.

Strengths

  • + Payments, booking, memberships and POS live in one system, so a day's sales reconcile against a single deposit
  • + Built for appointment businesses: split deposits for independent stylists, card-on-file deposits, memberships with autopay
  • + Boulevard Offset can cut the business's share of credit-card cost to about 1% where surcharging is legal
  • + Software plan prices are published, by vertical and billing period
  • + Two-business-day deposits by default, and Instant Payouts within minutes
  • + Strong software ratings: 4.6 from 390 reviews on Capterra, with 4.7 for customer support, as of October 2026

Trade-offs

  • – Only a starting card rate (2.65%) is published; the real rate is set per order and the chargeback fee is not disclosed
  • – No way to plug your own processor into Boulevard's checkout, so you cannot shop the processing rate separately
  • – 12-month auto-renewing term by default; leaving early means paying the rest of the term, and fees are non-refundable
  • – Boulevard can hold a reserve for at least 180 days after you leave and can end processing for any or no reason
  • – Expensive for a solo provider: the cheapest plan is $143 a month on annual billing before processing
  • – Trustpilot profile is small but mostly one-star, citing technical, checkout and card-reader problems, support and the one-year contract

Fees in detail

  • Contract: 12 months by default, auto-renewing
