Overview

If you run a home-service business on Jobber, Jobber Payments is the sensible default: the rates are published, flat and identical on every plan, there is no separate merchant account to apply for, payouts settle in two business days, and the money lands against the invoice and the QuickBooks sync without any re-keying. Judged purely as a processor it is unremarkable — 2.9% + 30¢ is Stripe's own retail rate, and a card-present business processing serious volume will pay less with a dedicated merchant account — but nobody buys Jobber for the processing. The things to go in with eyes open about are the subscription, not the payments: monthly-billed annual plans lock you in for twelve months, prepaid annual fees are non-refundable, extra users are $29 a month each, and Jobber can switch Payments on for your account without asking.

Best for: Home-service businesses of one to a few dozen field staff that invoice from the app and want card, ACH and Tap to Pay collected against the job without managing a separate processor, particularly those already committed to Jobber's scheduling and quoting.

Strengths

  • + The rate card is published on the pricing page and is the same on every plan — 2.9% + 30¢ online, 2.7% + 30¢ Tap to Pay, 1% ACH — so there is nothing to negotiate and no tier to chase.
  • + No merchant application: Stripe's hosted verification form takes about fifteen minutes and there is no monthly, PCI, statement or early-termination fee on the processing itself.
  • + Payments post against the quote, job and invoice and sync to QuickBooks Online with the fees and payouts already reconciled, which is the actual reason to process through the platform.
  • + Field collection is genuinely cheaper than online: Tap to Pay on a phone at 2.7% + 30¢ is a discount most invoicing platforms do not offer, and instant payouts and the Jobber Money account get money into the business the same day.
  • + Support has a strong record in public reviews: a 4.2 TrustScore from 230 Trustpilot reviews with a 100% reply rate to negative ones, an A- from the BBB, and reviews that overwhelmingly single out named support staff.

Trade-offs

  • – 2.9% + 30¢ is Stripe's retail rate with nothing off for volume, so a business doing tens of thousands a month in card-present work will pay more than it would with an interchange-plus merchant account, and there is no interchange-plus option.
  • – The software subscription is the real cost — $49 to $199 a month at list for a single user plus $29 for each additional user — and processing cannot be separated from it; leave Jobber and you leave the processor.
  • – Contract terms favour Jobber: the monthly-billed annual plans keep billing for the full twelve months after a cancellation, prepaid annual fees are non-refundable, everything auto-renews, prices can rise on fourteen days' notice, and the account is billed in advance with no partial-month credits.
  • – Jobber reserves the right to switch Jobber Payments on for an account 'at any time and in its sole discretion', and can terminate it for any reason or none, withholding payouts against potential losses.
  • – Geography is narrow: cards in the US, Canada and the UK only; ACH, the card reader and Jobber Money are US-only; Tap to Pay is US and Canada. A UK business gets online card acceptance and little else.
  • – The one-star reviews are about billing rather than payments — accounts reactivated and charged after cancellation, refunds refused on unused seats — and the BBB profile's six complaints in three years read the same way.
