Overview

PayTabs is a credible regional gateway for a Saudi business that already has, or can get, a processing agreement with one of its partner banks or PSPs and wants mada, Apple Pay, payment links, invoicing and ready-made e-commerce plugins in one place. It is not the cheapest way to start: the SAR 999 setup fee and SAR 199 a month come on top of card rates someone else quotes, and the SAR 1 per transaction fee is heavy on small baskets. We hold the grade at B- because gateway card processing rates in Saudi Arabia are not published anywhere, prices for most other markets are not published, the Paymes prices are labelled a test, fees already paid are not refunded, and the public reviews show a run of payout and support complaints through 2026.

Best for: Saudi online merchants with steady volume that want a locally certified gateway with mada and Apple Pay, and businesses selling across several Gulf and North African markets that want one gateway provider in each country. Small Saudi companies that want a phone-based SoftPOS and payment links can look at the Paymes app.

Strengths

  • + Local merchant portals in nine Middle East and North Africa markets, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Iraq and Türkiye, plus a global one
  • + mada certified with Saudi Payments, with Apple Pay, payment links, QR and invoicing in the same gateway
  • + The Saudi gateway agreement publishes PayTabs's own fees and target support response times, including a 2-hour first response for outages
  • + No fixed contract term in Saudi Arabia, and no early termination fee
  • + A low-cost Paymes app with SoftPOS for small Saudi companies, at a published rate of 1% on mada

Trade-offs

  • – Card processing rates on the main gateway are quoted by your partner bank or PSP and published nowhere
  • – PayTabs's own Saudi fees (SAR 999 setup, SAR 199 a month, SAR 1 per transaction) come on top of those processing rates
  • – No published prices for most markets outside Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and the Saudi Paymes prices are labelled a test
  • – Fees already paid, including the setup fee, are non-refundable, and PayTabs can change fees on 30 days' notice
  • – Trustpilot score of 2.6, with 2026 reviews describing payout delays, frozen funds and slow support
